Melur, Sidlaghatta : ಪುರಾಣ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದ ಶ್ರೀ ಗಂಗಾದೇವಿಯ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರಥೋತ್ಸವ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಮೇಲೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರುವಾರ ಅದ್ದೂರಿಯಾಗಿ ವಿವಿಧ ಪೂಜೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳಿಂದ ನೆರವೇರಿತು. ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಮುಖಂಡರುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಯುವಕರು ರಥೋತ್ಸವಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಪುರಾಣ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ಮೇಲೂರಿನ ಶ್ರೀ ಗಂಗಾದೇವಿಯ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರಥೋತ್ಸವದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಹೂವಿನ ಅಲಂಕಾರದಿಂದ ಶೃಂಗಾರ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು, ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷದಂತೆ ಈ ವರ್ಷವೂ ಕೂಡಾ ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಯಿಂದ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರಥೋತ್ಸವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು, ವಿವಿಧ ಜಾನಪದ ಕಲಾತಂಡಗಳು, ತಮಟೆಗಳ ವಾದನ, ಗಾರುಡಿ ಬೊಂಬೆಗಳ ನರ್ತನಗಳು ನೋಡುಗರ ಕಣ್ಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು.
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರಥೋತ್ಸವದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಹೋಮಕುಂಡವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ಲೋಕ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ವಿವಿಧ ಪೂಜಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು, ಗಂಗಾದೇವಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಹೂವಿನ ಅಲಂಕಾರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪೂಜೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು, ನೆರೆದಿದ್ದ ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳು ರಥಕ್ಕೆ ದವನದೊಂದಿಗಿನ ಬಾಳೇ ಹಣ್ಣು ಎಸೆಯುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ ತಮ್ಮ ಇಷ್ಟಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸುವಂತೆ ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದರು, ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೋಸಂಬರಿ ಪಾನಕಗಳನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ದೇವಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನ್ನಸಂತರ್ಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಶ್ರೀ ಗಂಗಾದೇವಿ ಮೇಲೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದು ನೆಲೆಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಶಾಂತಿಯಿಂದ ಇದ್ದು, ರೋಗ ರುಜಿನಗಳು, ದುಷ್ಟ ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಗ್ರಾಮ ರಕ್ಷಕಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ತಾಯಿ ಗಂಗಾದೇವಿ ಅಮ್ಮನವರು ಮೇಲೂರು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಆರಾಧನೆಯ ದೈವವಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.
ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ನಡೆಯುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಗಂಗಾದೇವಿ ಜಾತ್ರಾ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೊಪ್ಪಿನ ರಥ, ಬಾಯಿ ಬೀಗಗಳು, ದೀಪೋತ್ಸವ ಹಾಗೂ ರಥೋತ್ಸವ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ತವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಜಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ವಾಡಿಕೆ.
ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕಿ ಮತಸ್ಮರಾದ ನಾಯಕ ಜನಾಂಗದವರಿಂದ ಸೊಪ್ಪಿನ ರಥ ಹಾಗೂ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು, ನಾಯಕ ಜನಾಂಗದವರು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆಯಿಂದ ಉಪವಾಸವಿದ್ದು, ಮಡಿಯಿಂದ ಮರ ಕಡಿದು ಹಸಿ ಮರದಿಂದ ರಥ ತಯಾರಿಸಿ ಹೂ ಮತ್ತು ದೀಪಾಲಂಕಾರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಾಯಿಯ ಕೀರ್ತನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಹುಳಿ ಸೊಪ್ಪಿನ ಸಾರು ಮತ್ತು ಮುದ್ದೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂದು ಪೂಜೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ತೀರ್ಥ ಪ್ರಸಾದಗಳ ವಿನಿಯೋಗ ನಡೆಯಿತು.
ಮುತ್ತೂರು, ಮಳ್ಳೂರು, ಕಾಚಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಭಕ್ತರಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಗಂಗನಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಕಂಬದಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಅಪ್ಪೇಗೌಡನಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಚೌಡಸಂದ್ರ, ಕೇಶವಪುರ, ಬೆಳ್ಳೂಟಿ ಮುಂತಾದ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಿಂದ ಭಕ್ತರು ಆಗಮಿಸಿ ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ರಥೋತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಯಾದರು.

Sri Gangadevi Brahmarathotsava Celebrated with Grandeur in Melur
Melur, Sidlaghatta : The grand celebration of the Brahmarathotsava of Sri Ganga Devi took place on Thursday in Melur village of the taluk. The event included various pujas and rituals, with village leaders and youth kicking off the Rathotsavam.
As part of the Brahmarathotsav of Sri Gangadevi in Melur, one of the famous temples in the taluk, the temple was adorned with floral decorations. Like every year, the Brahmarathotsav program was carried out with great enthusiasm, with various folk troupes, tamatas players, and Garudi puppet dances attracting the attention of the onlookers.
The Homakunda was established as part of the Brahmarathotsava, with various puja programs performed for public welfare. Special floral decorations were used to offer pujas to Ganga Devi, and devotees gathered to pray for the fulfillment of their wishes by throwing bale fruit with davana to the chariot. Kosambari panakas were distributed to devotees from surrounding villages, and food offerings were arranged for the devotees from the temple.
After Sri Gangadevi came and settled in Melur, the village was at peace, and she protected it from diseases and evil spirits. Mother Gangadevi Amma is not only the goddess of protection and worship of Melur but also of the surrounding villages.
The Sri Gangadevi Jatra Mahotsav is celebrated every year with devout devotion, including Soppina Ratha, Bai Biegas, Dipotsava, and Rathotsava. It is customary for the girls of the village to participate in a fair in their village.
The Nayaka race of Valmiki Matasmara organized Soppina Ratha and Pooja. They fasted from morning, cut down wood from Madi, and made a Ratha out of raw wood with flowers and lamps while singing mother’s kirtan and songs. They brought sour sop soup and mudde in the festival and offered pooja, distributing Theertha Prasads.
Devotees from villages like Muttur, Mallur, Kachahalli, Bhaktarahalli, Ganganahalli, Kambadahalli, Appegowdanahalli, Chaudasandra, Keshavpura, Belluti, etc. arrived and participated in the puja and the chariot festival.
The event was attended by Gram Panchayat President RA Umesh, Members MK Raviprasad, MJ Srinivas, Dharmendra of Dr. Rajkumar Fan Association, KS Manjunath, Sudarshan, Sudhir, Srinivasmurthy(Puli), Shivakumar, Jeji Gowda, Ashwaththappa., M. Srinivas, Ramesh, N. L. N. Murthy, Archaka Srinivas Murthy, and office bearers of the temple committee. Nagaraja, Srihari, Naga, Murthy, Girishnayak, and Naveen of the Valmiki community were also present.
