Sidlaghatta : ಎತ್ತಿನ ಹೊಳೆ ಎಂಬ ಅವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಬದಲು, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಕೊಳಚೆ ನೀರು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಎಚ್‌.ಎನ್‌.ವ್ಯಾಲಿ, ಕೆ.ಸಿ.ವ್ಯಾಲಿಗಳ ಸಂಸ್ಕರಿತ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ವಿವಿಧ ರೋಗಗಳಿಗೆ ತುತ್ತಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಕೊಳವೆ ಬಾವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ ವಿಕಿರಣ ಪೂರಿತ ಯುರೇನಿಯಂ ದಾತು ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅಕ್ರಮ ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಗಾಳಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ನದಿ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳು ನಾಶವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಶಾಶ್ವತ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಹೋರಾಟ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಆರ್. ಆಂಜನೇಯ ರೆಡ್ಡಿ ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದರು.
ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಹಂಡಿಗನಾಳದ ಬಳಿ ಬುಧವಾರ ಬಯಲುಸೀಮೆಯ ಬರಪೀಡಿದ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳ ನೀರಿನ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಾಗಿ ಶಾಶ್ವತ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಹೋರಾಟ ಸಮಿತಿ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಜಲಜಾಗೃತಿಯ 6ನೇ ದಿನದ ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಅಡ್ಡ ಪರಿಣಾಮಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಕಿರು ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಿ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
ಹಂಡಿಗನಾಳ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ನಿಂದ ಬಯಲುಸೀಮೆಯ ಬರಪೀಡಿತ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳ ನೀರಿನ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿರುವ “ಜಲಜಾಗೃತಿ ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರೆ” ಶಿಡ್ಲಘಟ್ಟ ನಗರ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿ, ಹುಣಸೇನಹಳ್ಳಿ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಚಿಂತಾಮಣಿ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೊರಟಿತು.
ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬಡವರ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ 25 ಸಾವಿರ ಕೋಟಿ ರೂ ಖರ್ಚು ಮಾಡಿ, ನೀರು ಕೇಳಿದರೇ ಕೇವಲ ಖಾಲಿ ಪೈಪ್ ಲೈನ್‌ ಹಾಕಿ ನಾಯಕರು ಸುಮ್ಮನಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವಿಭಾಜಿತ ಕೋಲಾರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಾದ ಚಿಕ್ಕಬಳ್ಳಾಪುರ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮಾಂತರ, ಕೋಲಾರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬರಪೀಡಿತ ಎಂದು ಘೋಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಅನುದಾನ ಲೂಟಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದರು.
ಮುಂದೊಂದು ದಿನ ಬಯಲುಸೀಮೆ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ವಾಸಮಾಡಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯವಲ್ಲದ ಮಟ್ಟ ತಲುಪಲಿದೆ. ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರೆ ಮೂಲಕ ನೀರಿನ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಯಾವುದೇ ಪಕ್ಷವಾದರು ನೀರಿಗಾಗಿ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಕೊಡುವಂತೆ ಒತ್ತಾಯ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಬಯಲು ಸೀಮೆಯ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಶಾಶ್ವತ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಯೋಜನೆ ಜಾರಿಯ ವಿಚಾರವನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪಕ್ಷಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಣಾಳಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಬೇಕು. ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಗಳು ನೀಡುವ ಹೆಂಡ, ಸೀರೆ, ಮೂಗುತಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಇತರ ಆಮಿಷಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿಯಾಗಬೇಡಿ ಎಂದರು.
ಶಾಶ್ವತ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಹೋರಾಟ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಮಳ್ಳೂರು ಹರೀಶ್, ವಿಜಯ ಭಾವರೆಡ್ಡಿ, ಮೇಲೂರು ಆರ್.ಎ.ಉಮೇಶ್, ಲತಾ ದೇವರಾಜ್, ಉಷಾ ಆಂಜನೆಯರೆಡ್ಡಿ, ರತ್ನಮ್ಮ, ಆನೂರು ದೇವರಾಜ್, ನಾರಾಯಣಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ರೈತ ಸಂಘದ ರವಿಪ್ರಕಾಶ್, ಪ್ರತೀಶ್, ಹಿತ್ತಲಹಳ್ಳಿ ಗೋಪಾಲಗೌಡ, ನಾಗೇಶ್, ದೇವರಾಜ್, ಆನೂರು ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದರು.
Residents of Bayaluseeme Suffer from Sewage Water in the Name of Drinking Water
Residents of bayaluseeme are reportedly being supplied with sewage water of Bengaluru instead of clean drinking water, due to an unscientific project called Yettinahole. The Shashwata Neeravari Horata Committee has raised concerns about the use of treated waste water from HN Valley and KC Valley, which is said to have caused various health problems among locals.
Speaking to reporters during the sixth day of the water awareness walk organised by the committee, Chairman R. Anjaneya Reddy alleged that dangerous radioactive uranium metal has been found in tube wells and rivers due to illegal mining activities. He called for urgent action to prevent further damage to the environment and public health.
The Jalajagruti Padayatra, a protest march for water rights in drought-stricken districts of Bayaluseeme, began at Handiganala Cross and proceeded towards Chintamani via Hunasenahalli. The committee has accused the government of looting funds meant for providing clean drinking water to the poor and has demanded that all political parties prioritize water issues in their manifestos.
“We are creating water awareness through padayatra. Any party should insist on justice for water. All the political parties should announce the implementation of permanent irrigation scheme for the plains districts in their manifestos,” R. said. He also urged people not to be lured by other incentives offered by politicians during elections.
The farmers’ association was among the groups present at the event, which included Mallur Harish, Vijaya Bhavreddy, Melur RA Umesh, Latha Devaraj, Usha Anjaneyreddy, Ratnamma, Anur Devaraj, Narayanaswamy, Raviprakash, Pratish, Hittalahalli Gopal Gowda, Nagesh, Devaraj, and Anur Srinivas.
The situation in Bengaluru highlights the urgent need for governments to prioritise water management and invest in sustainable solutions that will ensure access to safe and clean drinking water for all.
